Wordless Wednesday: Pink!

Monday, April 26, 2010

Inhale....

And exhale.

Apparently I need to remember to breathe these days. There are many, many crazy things going on in our lives right now and I don't have enough brain power at the end of the day to make a legitimate post. So here's a quick run-down:

Family: driving us crazy.
Dogs: having some behavior issues that may result in making a seriously tough decision on whether or not to re-home one of them. Not a decision we're taking lightly.
Work: just as crazy. But we're employed.
The Little Miss: ornery as ever but she's the light of our life right now. She makes us laugh and amazes us with how much she learns each day.

::Deep breaths::

This too shall pass.

Name the Bunny (and a Giveaway!)

The Little Miss received a small pink bunny from her Aunt, Uncle and cousins in Missouri for Easter. She opened the package a week before Easter and it was the first item she pulled from the box. She has NOT put the bunny down since then.

It's with her at every nap time. It's the first stuffy she goes for when picking out her Ni-Night friends (she's allowed two stuffed animals every night for bed). And, most days, it's in her hands or close-by as she plays.

We've started a new tradition every night where Daddy hides the bunny in her room and she has to find it before bed. She has a look of concentration on her face and the minute she spots any or all of the bunny her face lights up with a huge smile as she giggles in glee.

Now here's where YOU come in. I'm holding a contest to Name the Bunny. The person who posts* the bunny name we choose gets a prize! You'll get your very own copy of The Velveteen Rabbit and plush rabbit.

Contest will run through the weekend and winner will be announced on Monday, April 19.

Easter Fun!

A little late but, hey...it's still April!!

The Little Miss enjoyed Easter this year. We opened her basket here at home then headed to her Nana and Yeye's house for lunch, an egg hunt and more Easter goodies.

First up, opening her basket:

Sophie and Daddy

Somehow, I missed pictures of her opening her basket at Nana and Yeye's house but here are some highlights of the egg hunt:

At first, she went straight for the Elmo eggs (go figure...Elmo's her favorite). After walking around with the Elmo eggs in her hand she finally caught on to the idea of needing to pick up the other eggs and putting them in her basket.

After a minor incident with a cactus she finished gathering all the eggs and began to open them to explore her loot.

All in all, it was a good day!

We hope your Easter or Passover celebrations were filled with lots of food, family time and fun!

I hope I get the SWEET girl tomorrow....even if she is covered in food and has bed head.

Friday Updates

What are Fridays good for if not to update the blog world? I know you've been on the edge of your seats waiting for these updates.

Update #1: Bye-bye bottles!!!
We've officially gone two weeks with NO bottles! Once life seemed to get back to normal, we made the switch again at sleep times - this time going cold turkey. Not a single tear was shed. No fighting. No issues whatsoever! I believe she was just completely ready this time so everything went smoothly. It felt SO good to pack away all those bottles and supplies. Next up: Pacifiers ONLY for sleep times.

Update #2: Weightloss.
I've started the exercise routine my RE had me on in 2007-2008 to get pregnant. This includes an hour of cardio a day, 200 crunches on a yoga/exercise ball and weights 3-5 days a week. Now, I'm no where near the 1-hour a day cardio (I'm currently at 30-40 minutes), starting out with 50 crunches a day and have done just 1 day of weights so far. To say I'm sore is an understatement but I NEEDED to get back to this exercise. I'm going to give myself a few weeks of exercise and healthier eating choices before I step on a scale again. It's not that I want to ignore any progress, I just know the results are going to be much slower than before. Previously, I was cutting out ALL refined carbs and taking medications that affected my appetite. I don't have that this time around so I know the results will be slow to show.

Update #3: Pockets.
Sophie discovered pockets this week. For the first time ever, she started putting things in her pockets. We were outside playing, she was carrying a piece of sidewalk chalk in one hand and wanted to pick up a ball. She looks down, pulls out her pocket and slides the chalk right in. I had to laugh at how pleased she was with herself. Now I'm going to have to check all her pockets for her treasures, I'm sure!

Update #4: We're raising a petite little peanut.
I sorted through The Peanut's drawers and closet only to discover I had to go clothes shopping. She has the tiniest waist so most two-piece outfits won't fit. The tops are fine but the bottoms slip right off. The credit card got a good workout today as I had to find her some clothes to wear! And why, WHY can't clothes manufacturers make ALL clothes to the same measurements so I don't have to THINK when I try to shop these various stores. This doesn't just apply to shopping for kids' clothes - it goes for adults, too! Family members are always asking what size she's in and I have to say "It depends on the store" and go through the whole spiel. If I knew the sizes would be close I would just say "She's in 18 month clothes" but they're NOT.

Update #5: Separation Anxiety.
We're still working on this. The Little Miss is okay if one of us leaves the house for a while but she's still not okay if we BOTH leave her. This has been frustrating to say the least but we don't want to push too hard and end up back to where we were in February after Y's surgery.

Wake Up Call

I stepped on a scale today for the first time in a month. What a wake-up call I received!

I'm way too embarrassed to post the number here but it's more than I've EVER weighed in my entire life.

How did it happen? How did I go from 6 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight to THIS!? In one year I've gained 25 pounds. Holy crap!!

Looks like I'll be finding some free time this week to clear out the mess around the treadmill in the garage so I can start using it again daily.

Perhaps if I force myself to post my progress here on the blog I'll be held more accountable?

I am mortified when I think of the numbers I saw on that scale. Completely mortified.

In happier news......here's my sweet little lamb:
